As an added bonus, this is fully compatible with the aforementioned Rebirth high polygon pack. The System Shock Texture Upgrade Project, or SHTUP for short, is a mod which replaces many of the in-game texture with hi-res versions, which makes the game a bit more palatable for the eyes. It replaces many of the original models in the game with high-detailed characters, and results are, pardon the pun, shocking. Rebirth is a high polygon pack for System Shock 2. As an added bonus, the level editor is, in actuality, a repackaged version of the editor used by Looking Glass Studio in the development of System Shock 2. A number of tutorials and sample missions are available, to ease you into creation. Released by the fan community, this level editor will allow you to create additional missions within the world of System Shock. The first thing I should mention is ShockEd. Either way, here’s a list of tools and mods you can use to get some extra mileage out of this classic.I should also note, that the developers have stated that these tools/mods will work with the re-release! Maybe you’ve already somehow beaten your way through the re-released game, or own an old copy which you want to enhance. But perhaps, just perhaps, you want a little more out of it. To say the game needs enhancements, is to undervalue what System Shock 2 is. But there are a ton of great fan-made mods out there that make it even better. But, perhaps, we should take this time to look at what tools there are out there to make this old gem shine. As is, 'System Shock 2' is one of the best games of all time. Interestingly, it seems System Shock 2: EE has significantly expanded in scope, going from a simple remastering to something almost near a remake.It was revealed this week that System Shock 2 would finally be coming to GoG and Steam! For those of you who don’t know System Shock 2, it is one of the most highly-revered PC FPS games of all time. Nightdive has also announced that anyone that pre-orders the System Shock remake will get System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition for free. Console versions of the demo will come later. This will be accompanied by the release of our final demo which will include the medical level, cyberspace level, full dismemberment, all newly recorded voice lines, and a ton of additional features and polish. PC pre-orders will open near the end of February on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Game Store. Thankfully, it seems that won’t be the case, as Nightdive have announced System Shock pre-orders will open in February. Development would later resume, but updates have been sporadic, leading some to believe the game would end up as vaporware. The project was successfully crowdfunded back in 2015, but hit a speedbump three years later when developer Nightdive Studios admitted they’d taken a “wrong path” and squandered most of their Kickstarter cash. It seems like the long-in-development System Shock remake is actually going to arrive this year.
